Plus 1 for VueScan. Ed is an incredible guy and the software simply works! You 
can D/L it and see if/how it works. 
You'll get watermarks until you pay for it but you'll know it works before you 
do. It was recommended by a friend on the editing list 
I've been on since the mid '90s. I used it for maybe 15 minutes and bought the 
lifetime licence. At some point Ed made it cross-platform and my lifetime 
licence was grandfathered so I can scan using my Brother MFC from any of my 
Macs or PCs. Inarguably the best $100 I ever spent on software!
