Sounds like a bad thermocouple to me. Take it out & find someone who can test it. If they say it’s bad, replace it, if they say it’s good, it is probably good. I had one decades ago that tested good but wouldn’t work with the pilot flame. The end @ the pilot should not be corroded or loose. If you have a voltmeter you can do a rough (no load test) to see if it’s bad. Should be plenty of videos on line.

Pressed in the pilot button... propane torch up the hole... after a few seconds the pilot lit
Held the button for 30 seconds and let it go...flame goes out
 
lowered the pilot assembly to see what happens ...same drill
 
pilot lights.... then goes out when releasing the pilot button...
flame is on the thermocouple
 
what you think >>>  bad thermocouple ???
