Agreed. My main concern for the last decade or so is that some of the not “real” expensive manufacturers I used to use have cheapened their products so it’s hard to judge quality.

An electronic gauge based on a bridge strain sensor should be equally durable, as long as it's made from quality components.  So, it's good electronics and good alloys that we are looking for.
