I’ve been very lucky over the years. I spend a lot of time outdoors & am 74. I have driven a convertible for about 10 years & am working on the restoration of another convertible to use for as long a tour of the US as I feel like doing. I’ve hardly ever used sun screen but do get my skin checked at least yearly. I hope to start using sun screen from now on but changing ways is not easy.

And if you're my 16 year old pale-skinned daughter who wants to tan like her friends, it also helps to have a teacher who has been reminding them frequently of her own father who passed away of skin cancer recently.  Scare tactics work like SPF in a way 🙂

Yes, great advice Pat. 

It is from a lifetime accumulation of UV-exposure, and the older we get, the more likely it will manifest in something like that. 

I just had a couple of small spots just "frozen" off from my nose (no cutting or stitching), but it is a risk that we all run particularly if you are caucasion and have spent time in the sun. 

The dermatologist suggested SPF 30 as the minimum, and SPF 50 as the recommended.
