[Shop-talk] Smart phone voice recorder

Curious about the 'Contacts' question - been years since I used a Samsung/Android phone, I thought those allowed fine-grained controls around what data the app could access. Maybe they don't any longer.

If the app is doing transcription, I'd be careful that it's using the cloud/internet for the transcription (it probably is). Just sayin' since you seem skeeved about the Contacts access.

We like Otter.  It's transcription is not perfect, but
definitely good enough for us to find what we're
looking for in the voice file.

We use it to record meetings.  I don't know if it will
record phone calls.
