[Shop-talk] building off of a vinyl siding wall

Typically you would remove enough siding to allow the header to attach
directly to the wallboard.  Normally siding edging (as shown in your
example photo around the outlet) is used to maintain a waterproof boarder
around the header board.   It is also a good idea to put a bead a caulk
around and behind the header board.  We used Azak(sp?) to make a header
that was low maintenance.
