[Shop-talk] Mason jar treads in wood?

Mason jars for canning have a two part lid, the threaded band and the 
flat top.  Maybe you can get by with gluing the threaded band in a hole 
cut in the wood.  The metal band would be out of site, but allow easy 
threading of the jar into the wood device.
