Actually it fits 5-gallon chemical container’s caps (screw-on/off lids) 
and I found the absolute right person for it.  That’s what I call a 
win-win outcome.  Thanks for all the replies.

I would say it was for a proprietary pool filter pump or water filter unit. 

Bring it to the Home Deport with you next time and see if it fits on their whole house water filters.
