Works well but i learned the hard way that you should either turn off the water or at least know where the main shutoff valve is & know that it works.
We had a stuck stop in a faculty lounge, so we loosened the packing nut a bit to get it closed. The whole top of the valve blew off, soaking the room, maintenance guy & the rooms below. Quite a mess! Turns out it was cross threaded.

On a related note, I learned something recently that is probably obvious to many of you: on a stuck valve, loosening the packing nut to break loose the valve, then tightening up is much better than my old method of applying gorilla force and shearing off the handle!
