[Shop-talk] "helping hand" for soldering - recommendation?

Another option you may already have is a plastic chip clip - the kind of 
clip that you use to seal a big bag of potato chips or similar.  The 
have some weight so they may stay in place for light work.  They are 
long enough that you can put a wire at each end, meeting in the middle 
to solder.  They are also long enough that you can have the wire in one 
end and clip the other to something nearby, perhaps to a clump of wires, 
if working in a semi-confined space.
