Steve is correct. I can't modify anything.
And I pretty much knew whatever I looked at would need to vent the warm air to somewhere. I was just hoping that maybe something was out there that I didn't know about.
Thanks for the input all.

I think the mini-split solution fails the "doesn't cost several hundred dollars" requirement. Also, I am interpreting Tim's situation differently. I think he is saying that this is an office that he does not own and therefore he cannot chop holes or otherwise modify. As others have said, the heat has to go somewhere. The least invasive modification I can imagine would be venting above suspended ceiling tiles. This would make it hotter up there and would still probably be frowned upon by whoever is in charge of the place. The only other thing I can think of is using fans to circulate air out of the office through the door, which of course means leaving the door open. Your only real solution may be in the hands of "the idiots" who are supposed to fix the system. Complain that the computer equipment can't handle the heat. Everyone seems to accept the idea that computers need to be kept cool, even if they don't particularly care about the comfort of the people.

What you want is called a mini-split. All it needs is a couple of coolant lines through the wall, the compressor is mounted outside.

try this again.....
I did some digging and didn't really find what I am hoping for.....
When this new building I am in was constructed, the idiots didn't do the HVAC correctly so I get basically no cold air in my office. If I am running two computers and two monitors and have the door closed it gets close to 80 degrees. For someone who wears shorts in the winter here in southern WI, working in temps this high is difficult. I don't know if I can physically wait for these idiots to fix this issue.
So, is there such a thing as a portable air conditioner that doesn't need to have access to an open exterior window? (that doesn't cost several hundred dollars)
thanks
