Well, it looks like you were right.  I called Bosch customer service.  They said to use a scribe to push the contacts.  I fought with it for a while and eventually got it done.  I was expecting a separate hole or slot to insert a tool and release the grip, kind of like the way the "backstab" electrical outlets and switches work.  I had to just push in the same hole, right next to the wire.  Thank you for your suggestions.  You got it right!
