[Shop-talk] Removing Symmons diverter valve?

Jim,

The only time I had trouble getting valve guts out was after a "professional" plumber didn't remove the guts while soldering the assembly in. I resorted to a slide hammer to get it out. Be careful to brace the valve body so you won't break the water lines loose.

and I've already torn off the first 1/4" using a lag bolt. I tried heating it a bit but the fiberglass enclosure started smoking.
