[Shop-talk] Breakaway cabinet hinges?

I don’t know if they would breakaway, but Ikea hinges are basically quick release and might work. When installing cabinets, the cabinet face and doors are assembled separately and then hinges snap together. We have IKEA kitchen cabinets and I recently just snapped off the doors to give me better access when installing a garbage disposal. I’ve never tried hyper-extending mine, but they might come apart before anything breaks.

You can buy them separately pretty cheaply: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/75719200/ <http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/75719200/> Just look at the assembly instructions for any of their PAX furniture to see how they go together.

We use 35mm European hinges. Anyone know of compatible hinges that would allow the doors to just pop off? The face frames are getting where they will need to be replaced. I mentioned just removing the doors but she said "That's a man's way of dealing with it......NO". Yes dear.
