well, I combined all the ideas... I have verifier running... so far nothing found... I ran every memory checker I trust... nothing found... I took it outside and blew it out... wow ! then removed the memory and reseated it... still no problems... ran three different virus and malware finders... still good to go. It’s been about 17 hours with not a single BSOD problem. I think with all of your help I’ve worried it into submission..... that being said .. it will probably lock up as I send this email...

thanks guys... helpful and informative as usual

john

As others have pointed out, it looks like a memory access error, which would require the actual DMP file to look at, here's a link to discussions on the same issue:

this week I have started getting the ‘blue screen of death’!! Gives me the screen... does the dump and reboots...

upon reboot I get the ‘windows had a boo-boo’ box with the following information

  Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48

  Additional information about the problem:

    OS Version: 6_1_7601
    Service Pack: 1_0

Files that help describe the problem:

of course all of this is just gobblede-gook to me. I did finally get it to allow me to print out the minidump and have it saved if someone wants to look at it
I used to be able to read memory dumps, but that was 30 years ago with mainframes and cobol... this don’t look like those !

any of you super guru binary/hex people give me an idea what’s blowing up my pc ??? I would certainly appreciate some guidance... I can email you the dump if it helps

  thanks
  John
