I used to use a home made vacuum bleeder. It consisted of a glass
peanut butter jar, which had two holes punched in the lid for barbed
hose fittings, which were epoxied in place. One had a hose that led
to the bottom, the other was just a fitting. put half an inch of
fluid in the bottom, hook the side with the dip tube up to the brake,
the other to hand vaccum pump. apply some vacuum, open the bleeder.
Done.
Made one out of a quart canning jar for the shop, worked just as well,
and could do anything without needing to be emptied.
I found them far superior to the pressure bleeders I've used. (And
I've used many.) I've used fancier versions of the HF thing. They're
great too, as long as you can keep the reservoir full.
