Eric,

I'm almost positive that you'll have to cut each side to a 45deg 
angle then when
you fold them together they should line up.  You could test this by 
using a piece
of paper, poster board,  or cardboard and making a test piece.  Bend 
the top and
bottom edge of the cardboard so you have a "C" channel.  Now cut a slit in the
top and bottom rails so you can fold the cardboard.  Once folded you can mark
the top and bottom rails, open it up and measure them.  I'm pretty sure it will
be 45 deg on each side of the slit cut.
