I don't know if anything adhesive will work.

You can try splitting a piece of hose, putting it over the line, and tightening a hose clamp around it.  This might work or might not.  Depending on who does your AC work, some people won't fill it if it has a leak, in fact some states, maybe all of them, it is illegal to fill it if it has a leak.
