[Shop-talk] Electrical stuff

I'm looking at a piece of older industrial 
machinery with the electrical motor spec's 
as follows:  1hp 208-230 / 440V
I'm assuming that it will be 3ph, so I'll 
need a phase converter.  My concern is 
that this is a Y type vs. a Delta type 
electrical requirement and which type 
would I have?  My shop has a straight 
residential type 220V 1ph.  Can this be 
easily made to work with a simple 
electronic phase converter under these 
conditions?
