[Shop-talk] What to do with oily rags?

I put dirty/oily rags in a bucket filled with water and a combination of
dishwashing detergent (to cut the grease) and Tide.  The combination
serves two purposes.  It soaks the rags with water so they are no longer
flammable and it serves as a long pre-soak to washing them.

This process seems to release a lot of the dirt and grease and makes
them easier to clean.  The downside is a very heavy bucket full of wet
rags to tote to the washing machine.
