Bingo! Give John a gold star!
I used to design ammunition and we had flechettes (arrow like ammo) down
around the size of a small nail. They had little fins stamped in the back,
picture the head of a finishing nail, blown out into four fins, and when
shot at high velocity, were nasty little critters.

A framing nail has more mass than a bullet from a .223 rifle. The velocity
is the deciding factor.
