[Shop-talk] replacing Ridge Board in garage

A ridge board is actually not a key structural element, and roofs can actually be built without one. Unless pieces are falling off, you can probably leave it as-is.
My old house's garage (built in the 20's) has the same material for the ridge board, which was also used for the main house's siding and subflooring.
