The least invasive and least expensive is to remove at least one leaf and probably two from each spring. It will help make sure all moving parts can move easily. The friction of one leaf on the next can be reduced with Teflon spacers or something similar. Make sure the shackles have room to swing like they were designed to do.

Concern is rough – bumping ride of empty P U with new stock rear leaf springs / shocks. Thinking of some kind of coil spring adaption for a more CAR like ride – possible reducing leaf spring stack to 2 ~ 3 for alignment adding some type of coils for ride support ( very doubtful any weight will be in the P U bed – vintage plates – use as a car )
