at 55MPH you are turning 2600 RPM.
I don't know how many RPMs a 235 is comfortable with, but I would not want to
turn many more for an extended period.
I set my 350 up to run at 2400 at 70 MPH

there is an online calculator at:

Subject: [Oletrucks] Safe highway speeds

Hello all, long time since I posted but I still read most of the interesting
posts.

I have a 1959 GMC = ton pickup with the original 235 I6 (Canadian truck so
it has the Chevrolet drive train), 3 speed and I think the rear end is 3.90.
Tire size is P215 75 R15.

How fast can I safely drive down the highway without over revving the
original 235?

Currently I rarely drive it faster than 55 mph. Any idea how fast the 235 is
turning at 55 mph?

I know I am limited by the drum brakes and steering.
