Subject: [Nobbc] UPDATE on membership and email list

Hi Folks,

Well, I've now made a real pest of myself to Mark Bradakis, who owns the autox.team.net server, which hosts this email list. I have asked him by email about 7 times now to change the administrator passcode to my own so I can moderate the email list, but have not heard anything back from him, and still can't get access. I've seen his posts recently on one of the Triumph lists, so he's in town, but for some reason, won't respond to me. Not sure what to do about this, other than wait it out.

I have not yet received any information from Candy to help with access to Facebook, which currently has no moderator. There are only about 23 or so members on the Facebook page, so it doesn't reflect the club very well, and self-policing unwanted posts won't be possible without the owner to take care of that, so I'm not sure where we stand in that regard. It is possible that Candy won't be able to come up with any password, and we'll have to find some way of dealing with closing the page and starting a new one perhaps.

Candy also has not yet been able to find or send me the membership list, which is probably on Ron's computer and needs to be accessed by his brother, who lives back east. We may need to face the possibility that we will have to generate a new membership list, starting with those of us who are on the autox.team.net list (102 members), losing about 50 members in the process.

I have asked Tcherek Kamstra to make 12 significant changes to the web site, which is woefully out of date. Tcherek has always relied on active members, including Ron, to let her know when changes were needed, but we've not done that, so the web site has many problems that need to be fixed. I've asked Tcherek if she still wants to do this job, or if she wants to take this opportunity to pass it on to someone else in the club. Tcherek has done this job for years and years, with no pay, and I assume, never even meeting any NOBBC members (can't recall if she attended one of our drives or not). Anyhow, she deserves our gratitude and appreciation, and complete understanding if she wants to let someone handle the job. Sheryl King, who has extensive experience, has agreed to take on the job if Tcherek is ready to move on.

I've started a Google Groups page and sent you all invitations. Most of you have not joined. The email has a link that you click to join - very easy. It's not the best, but it's a start, and Google is soon coming out with a competitor to Facebook, so we can look at that as a way to share photos and information. I also started a club Picasaweb account, but I am not very comfortable with broadcasting the password for security reasons, so for now it is a one-way street. You'll get invitations to the site soon.

Dan is handling the next drive, but soon the rainy season will be upon us, and we'll move to the winter schedule of only the 4th Saturday of the month (plus any extra drives you want to organize). The December drive will probably have to be moved up a week, since the 4th Saturday is Christmas Eve. More on that later.

Cheers,

Greg Tatarian
