[NOBBC] After Saturday's drive - it's Lemons!

Mike,

The Ford Escort was also a LBC, made in Halewood UK (near Liverpool) with
rear-wheel drive and a front engine cross-flow push-rod 1600cc engine( the
Kent which was similar to the Pinto). If yours is any way close then we
should have a winner! Forget those 5 liter V-8 lemons- the Escort was a
world beating road rallye car in its day.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Escort_(Europe) particularly the
latter part about rallyeing!

Hi Cliff,

What a coinkydink. It's not an lbc, but I have a little beater Ford Escort
that has been living outside the back door of my shop for about six years,
and I was thinking of turning into a Lemons car. It's already been beat up
by vandals, and as such, is somewhat ugly, but it runs, and is free,
contributing to the concept of a value of $500 or less to qualify. We could
put some brit flags, verbage all over it, paint it to look like a british
flag, whatever to identify the NOBBC, but what a hoot to actually get some
volunteers together and go race. And I would consider it a blessing to NOT
sacrifice any british car of any condition. There are plenty of Escorts
around, to use up. Thoughts anyone?
