Paul, my recommendation would be to repair the throw out bearing unless you
have a tranny with O/D in your back yard. The 5 speed is also nice but will
put you back over $3k plus installation. The only British shop that I know
in Rohnert Park/Cotati is British European and they do very good work. I
also agree with Marty that Ed Wright's shop in San Rafael is very good and
has been in business for ever.

Andy

Subject: [Nobbc] Local MGB repair/modification

We have a 1979 MGB with a throwout bearing that is going out. We've thought
about several things including tranny swap to a 5 speed, engine and tranny
swap
to a ? engine with a 5 speed, getting a tranny with an overdrive or just
repairing the throwout bearing. We would like to hear any opinions and
would
be
interested in local repair shops to talk to or any information on engine
swaps.
Thanks.
