Hi all,

The TR4A made it to Glen Ellen with very few mis-steps.    After
departing Flagstaff all went well to the Calif border.   We even went
up to 5500 in 4th for a while to escape someone following excessively
closely.   We'd planned to make it to Bakersfield to take in all the
culture of that lovely city.  :-D

However, abouut 130 miles west of needles I made an interesting
discovery;  just because the gauge indicates that a third of a tank
remains, it ain't necessarily so.  She coughed a few times and then
allowed me to coax her to the next roadside call box.   Whew.....
There was some apprehension that it wasn't something so simple as an
empty tank since I did previously notice a bit of weep from the fuel
pump.  After an excruciating  wait for the rescue,  two gallons was
all it took.  Now behind schedule we were on our way once more.   We
ended up spending the night in that garden spot of the Mojave: Barstow.

In the morning all of the interesting passes over the Sierra remained
closed so there was to be no Tioga for us.  Dang it.   Okay... over
toward I-5 with an arabesque to avoid Bakersfield.... via Arvin.  We
were home shortly after sundown and she was comfortably snuggled in
the garage next to the German road rocket.   She seems to be fine but
has

She's settling in rather well and is only having a minor incontinence
problem... she did pee on the garage floor a little her first night.

Which brings me to a question for those with experience coddling the
old timers.  What is THE choice of oil?

I was told by a TR3 owner that, to protect the cam and valve gear,  I
should use this stuff:

What I heard and read online is that the modern oils don't have the
needed zinc for these old engines.  Is there any consensus of the best
stuff to use?   She seems to convert some of her crankcase oil into
propellant when cruising long distances at speed and, as noted above,
she does piddle a little bit.   however there is no obvious issue with
the crankcase otherwisde.

What do you guys think?
