Yeah, the race shop in Berkeley wouldn't touch my flywheel. They told me to
get an aluminum version but they're hard to find.

Nope.  It is a new one that had about 6 pounds of steel removed.  I bought 
it because my ring gear is worn and causing difficulty starting.  On the 
last ride I was stuck beside the road and had to wait for everybody to get 
buy so I could rock the car and move the flywheel backward so it would 
engage with the starter.   The lost weight is just a bonus.
There is a lot of discussion on the JHPS website about lightened and 
aluminum flywheels.  You will be surprised at the different opinions 
regarding light weight flywheels.  Check it out.
