From nobbc at sonic.net Sun Feb 8 11:09:48 2009 From: nobbc at sonic.net (Ron Engelhardt) Date: Sun, 08 Feb 2009 10:09:48 -0800 Subject: [Nobbc] Wine Country British & European Car Show, Sunday August 23, 2009 Message-ID: <498F1FEC.70502@sonic.net> I received the following from Peter Ziedrich of Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts. This looks to be an interesting show in our own backyard. I've asked Tcherek to post it on our website but thought you might want early notice to make plans to attend. I have a conflict on the date so probably will be unable to make it, bummer! Also next Saturday is our regularly scheduled ride day. Last I heard, Dawson has volunteered to organize it. Dawson, let me know if this has changed. Ron 58 MGA ********************************************************************** This is a reminder of the only North Bay Area Wine Country British and European Car Show in 2009 (and for as long as I can remember). Our dedicated site is now up and running. The car show is intended for all makes and models, new or classic, trailer queens, daily drivers, and works in progress. We will have food onsite, wine tasting, a live jazz band, and vendors in a grassy field under towering oaks on the Fred Stoke Ranch just south of Windsor. Registration applications are downloadable from the site (http://redwoodempiremini.com/carshow.htm) and payment can be made by mailing a check with a completed application to: REME P.O. Box 944 Healdsburg, CA 95448 You can make payment online using PayPal so long as you fax or mail a completed application as well. Please fax completed applications to (707) 433-3239. I would appreciate if you post a link to our car show on your website. We are making an attempt to post a link every area British and European Car Show on our site. If you have an upcoming event you would like us to link to please let me know. I would also like to invite all car shows occurring after ours to provide us with 150 fliers advertising their upcoming show and we would be happy to include them in our entry package. I would like to be able to send copies of our flier to be included in shows preceding ours if possible. Please let me know if it is possible and the quantity and where I should send the fliers to. I personally routinely attend the Woodland (Dixon) Show, Brisbane Marina (Palo Alto) Show, and the California Autumn Classic. Last year was the first year I attended the Chico Car Show which I plan to again this year. The Clovis Car Show and the Hayward Field Meet I have not yet attended but hope to in 2009. Message-ID: <08720625-B34C-4798-8B04-2BEE15924DFE@authorspublishing.com> Hi NOBBC Friends, We will have a spectacular North Bay British Car Club ride this coming weekend. The ride falls on Saturday Feb 14th, and so we're having a St. Valentine's Day ride. I've just moved to a big new property on Mark West Springs Rd (directions below), with parking for 30 cars, so I'd like to make this a big ride and lots of fun in every way! Because it's St. Valentine's Day, please bring friends, significant others, and/or family members! And to tempt them, we'll be having two fabulous stops. One is for strawberries, chocolate and wine at Kunde winery: http://www.kunde.com/visit_us/index.asp After Kunde, we'll go to the square in Sonoma, and buy lunch at the gourmet Sonoma Cheese Factory deli: http://www.sonomacheesefactory.com/visit_sonoma.html We'll meet at my house at 10:30 am for coffee and pastries. Also to take a gander my work-in-endless-progress 1974 Lotus Elite. That model's the concoction that resulted from some perverted engineer at Lotus deciding to mate the torso of a Ferrari Dino 308 with the arse of an AMC Gremlin. We'll depart at 11 am, and take the scenic route up Mark West, to Porter Creek, then south on Calistoga Rd to Route 12 to Kunde. The weather forecast says a 30% chance of showers, with temperatures in the 50s. So we'll make sure there's plenty of enclosed transport for newcomers who might not appreciate the bracing experience of a top- down Triumph, Morgan or MG on a crisp winter's morning. We'll have my minivan and Rolls Royce for those who favor plush seats and climate control. Also, I'd like to get a great photo of all the cars, so I'm going to request that everyone park in a semi circle. My driveway ends in a big circle where about 20 cars can park facing each other. Please park that way when you arrive. I'll hand out route maps. Please print the attached certificate and bring it along so that we can have a private sit down tasting of ports and library wines in their Kinneybrook room: http://www.kunde.com/Kunde_Certificate.pdf So please forward this invitation to those with whom you'd like to share the NOBBC experience. Let's have a big turnout, get a great group photo, and share our fabulous club and cars with many other people! Cheers, Dawson Directions: 1490 Mark West Springs Rd. 707 525 9292. 2.5 miles East of 101 on the right. Redwood fence, house not visible from the road. White mailbox with house number on the West side of the driveway, and a street sign "Michelle Way" on the East side of the driveway. I have some pictures also that I will post. This has been a fun weekend with first our ride then the Tour of California on Sunday. John Kenner is working on a March ride to visit Ron Wheeler's shop in Forestville which should be quite interesting. I'm hoping to set up a memorial ride for Steve to Fisk Mill Cove in April. No reason why we can't switch over to two rides for April though we usually wait a bit later. West Dry Creek and a lunch at Preston's or the Dam would be perfect. Je ne comprends pas!!! As to your tire question, I have heard Kuhmos are very good. I am running Nankang tires on my Morgan and find them to be very satisfactory. These are available through Big O Tires. Size: 165 R 15. They also have a period looking tread pattern. I was running Michelin XZX tires in the same size, but they became price and then availability prohibitive. I am told that this was the size tire that was standard on the air cooled VW bug. With fewer and fewer of those on the road Michelin decided to cut back production. Now I understand they are more readily available. Although Coker Tire still has them @$153. per tire.
