[Nobbc] rough estimate cost of engine repair

With the DOHC engine in your Jag I think if you shop around you may find
rebuilt blocks are available. If you are not troubled with not having
the original engine in the car that may be a good start. Else wise
depends on whether you are willing to get the block out and back into of
the car yourself rather than paying for that extensive labor. Good thing
is, everything you will need is available. I'd peruse the Monster List
http://www.dimebank.com/monster/ and shop around for the best price on
parts. Plan on pistons, rings, bearings, seals, oil pump, gaskets all
around, As long as you're that far along I'd go for a valve job, and to
replace all clutch components while you've got the whole kit and
caboodle out of the car. Driver or show car you don't want to risk
having to be going back in after finding some other drive train
component has failed and you have to pull the whole damn thing again.

Owner of two jags in my time and a slew of TRs.
