Over that and approval is needed to post to this list. In order to avoid this, there are a few things you can do. Don't post in HTML format (never a good idea anyway), instead use plain text formatting. This is usually an option in whatever email program you are using. HTML may look nice but the backgrounds, fancy fonts, etc. use bandwith. An HTML formatted message will be many times the size of a plain text message. Many people still use dial up connections to the internet and HTML messages can be painful for them. This list will strip off the HTML formatting but message sizes may still be bigger than if formatted originally in plain text. If you are replying to a message on the list snip off the extraneous quoted text. In a long thread, quoted text can add up to over 5K. A few sentences from the previous posts are usually sufficient for message clarity. The list will strip off any attachments such as pictures or PDFs. If you would like to post pictures, many services are available online to enable sharing at no charge or you can use your FTP directory if your ISP provides you with one (Sonic.net for one...best ISP in the universe). Photos can also be submitted to Tcherek for inclusion on our website a;though you should probably check with her before sending (tkamstra at sonic.net). Enjoy tomorrows Marin ride and have a great 4th for those of you not attending. See you on the 14th! We have a route and made some copies but we can decide over coffee if someone has other suggestions. For those of you that aren't familiar with how to get to the Strawberry Starbucks here you go. Coming from the north (heading southbound) -get off at E. Blithedale/Tiburon Blvd off ramp -turn left and go over fwy and take FIRST right turn which is the frontage road, Redwood Hwy. go down about a 1/3 of a mile and on your left is the Strawberry Shopping center and Starbucks is past the Safeway. Coming from the Golden Gate Bridge -get off at E. Blithedale/Tiburon Blvd off ramp -turn right and then a quick right turn which is the frontage road, Redwood Hwy. go down about a 1/3 of a mile and on your left is the Strawberry Shopping center and Starbucks is past the Safeway. ______________________________ Michael S. Message-ID: Hello Ron; Although my British car restorations have slowed to stop, I am still very interested in the Club and looking forward to getting much more active. I have an early Lucas Electrical parts catalogue which enables me to find needed parts. Some time ago I needed a windscreen wiper bracket for my '53 Sunbeam Alpine and found that the MK V Jaguar used the same unit. This is true of many lamps, etc. While I have been a fan and user of Castrol oils, I have an article stating that their products are now API and do not contain the lubricants for protecting flat tappets used on early cars. As I subscribe to an International news letter for Sunbeam Classics, I find it to be worthwhile reading. I have noted with some interest that the club is celebrating an anniversary on August 4th and I hope to attend. It is possible that I could host such an event at my Sebastopol home with a pot luck event. Lets chat, over coffee, a pint of ale or a telephone conversation. Ended up on the coast in Bodega Bay, which was great for lunch as it was quite a bit cooler out there. Norman Vogel gave out route sheets for the run. He has a 74 Alfa GTV, so I'm sure you would have been interested in that. Morgan chucked it's battery hold down after lunch so had to take it easy on the route home. Route was Strawberry Center in Mill Valley up 101 to Lucas Valley Rd., to Nicasio Valley Rd. to Petaluma-Pt. Reyes Rd. to Hicks Valley Rd., to Wilson Hill Rd., to Chileno Valley Rd., then to Tomales Rd. into Tomales. That was the official printed route sheet and end. Once in Tomales we decided to go up to Bodega Bay for lunch. People that showed up: Me - 59 Morgan +4 Scott Irwin & wife - 65 Spitfire Michael Vogel - 62 Austin Healey 3000 Dick & Judy Scardamaglia - New Chrysler Crossfire convertible Steve Plath - 68 Jaguar E-Type FHC Hope I didn't forget anyone. Hope you and Trish had a good 4th. Sorry you couldn't make it. I don't have a clue and wondered if some of our TR owners could help. His email address is bobkrolick at earthlink.net. It would probably be best to contact him directly. Ron 58 MGA ********************************************************************* Hello Ron, An elderly gentleman I know has a 1980 TR 7 and is unable to drive his car because it doesn't have power steering. He lives in San Rafael. Can you provide any information that might be useful with regard to having power steering put in his TR 7. Is it possible? Is there a shop you can recommend that might do the work or perhaps an individual? Any help you might provide would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions for the next one? I propose making the next ride on the 29th (two weeks from today) which is actually the fifth Sunday due to calendar weirdness this month. Otherwise we will have two rides within 8 days...better to spread them out a bit. Next month, our Saturday ride (8/11) will be our club anniversary ride (6 years!). By tradition, we go out to Fisk Mill Cove for a picnic. We normally travel out Skagg Springs Rd., King Ridge Rd. or up the coast (returning via one of the above also). We haven't done Skagg Springs in a while so I'm proposing that route. Thoughts or suggestions anyone? We had a really nice trip yesterday even though we didn't go that far. The weather was perfect and the destination was quite interesting. I'll add your name to the email roster if you would like so you can receive club information. A little bit about the club: Our club is almost 6 years old, numbers roughly 115 members and is a "driving" club. We don't believe in dues or a lot of rules and regulations. There are rides each month, twice a month (2nd Sat., 4th Sun.) in warmer weather meeting at 10 AM and once a month in the cooler weather meeting at noon (varies, usually 2nd Sat.). We also have occasional other events with different clubs and organizations. Our routes range widely over the North Bay area including the counties of Marin, Sonoma, Lake, Napa and Mendocino and during the warmer months usually include a picnic. All club communication is done by email or through the club list server. Our website is located at www.nobbc.com. You'll find the members generally to be friendly and quite helpful about all things to do with British cars. Recently, we've implemented a club list server through team.net. You may be familiar already with the many British car and related lists hosted by them. The benefit to joining the list server is that it enables two way communication with other members and doesn't have to filter through me. To join, visit: http://autox.team.net/mailman/listinfo/nobbc.
