It is time for the Belmont Shore Pier meet - 1st Wednesday of the month 6-9 pm You can use the Olympic pool at the base of the pier parking - address for reference 4000 Olympic Plaza , Long Beach , CA , 90803. Proceed into the pier parking lot. Turn to the right and you should see other British cars parked in the area. The average amount of cars is around 20 cars - Some time as high as 30 or more cars. They have some good attendance when a British car club makes this one of there events. Great bunch of people with assorted knowledge on different British cars. I always have fun at this gathering and meet interesting people. No Fee for parking.......That is why it starts at 6 pm. There is food, soft drinks & Brewery with in walking distance at the Belmont pier. My only point being he will look for stuff most shops wouldn't bother to try to find. He has a lot of sources/suppliers too. Whenever I have asked for these sizes, he usually strikes out. Seems with all the craze over "supersize" wheels, smaller sizes like 13 and 14 inch, and espacially narrow sizes are not made by many manufacturers. Most of the molds have been bought up by Coker ($$$) and will likely be the only source. The last time I tried to find narrow sizes for a Morris Minor, the narrowest I could find in a 14" was 175 or 185. I recently sold a set of period 70's vintage Vector 14x7 wheels that came off an Olds 442. It took me a year to find a buyer because it seems the guys today want to put 22" "wagon wheels" on them. Let me know if you have better luck. Gerard On May 5, 2010, at 9:11 AM, wrote: > > Anyone know of a dealer that sells 145r14 or 165R14 tires? > Preferably in So Cal. Minor 1000s came with 520/560X14 that is more like 155X14s which I used to run on my few minors with stock wheels. I have run up to 175X14s on the rear of a few of my many Minors (owned over 50) on stock wheels with no problems (they would rub on corners on the front). I've been screwing around with these cars since 1970 and the only limitations I see are visual. 165s work OK but, to me, look too big but I have run them for many miles when that was all you could get (they fit MGBs) I usually solved the problem by fitting 13X5.5 Chevy Vega wheels with 185/70X13s that worked and looked great. But, what the hell do I know - I traded my Minor for a Plymouth??? Anyhow, he is selling a Morris he built for his sister in Redwood City many years ago that has been sitting for a long time after being well used for years - it will need a cosmetic restoration. He has gone through it to make sure it is dependable and safe - It has a strong running 948 and good working smoothcase trans. All of the brakes have just been rebuilt with disc brakes up front - the tires are brand new and mounted on sandblasted and repainted, properly bored out Vega wheels (he said that these are very hard to find today) He also has the Vega Hubcaps. The body is clean and rust-free - it has a perfect replacement fender in primer - the bottom of the trunklid is rusty but he has a rust free replacement that goes with the car.....
