As any fule 'no the pressure cap on your radiator or expansion tank
enable the temperature of your coolant to exceed 100c (212f for old
skool) without it boiling over, so how do you check your pressure cap
is doing its job?

Now if you attended any IMMs during my more creative phase you will
know the answer already.... for those who want not to find out look
away now:

My ongoing attempt to turn a minefield into a workshop has unearthed a
remnant of my occams-razor period by augmenting the cooling with a
water pressure gauge off a combi boiler system, you can check if the
pressure cap is working, as well as being able to share water pressure
anecdotes with any passing traction engine drivers
