Well, that's an obvious one. I've also fitted this behind the dash and, before I refitted the front and rear glass, I put it behind the roof linging too. And the clincher to sound proofing for me was ditching the A series engine and replaced it with a Suzuki 1300GTI engine. It has a five speed box and, wait for it, the exhaust is out the front of the engine. That was the most brilliant move ever:-) As far as the leaking alloys, I would most certainly try this liquid punture repair kit. Cheers, Frits Schouten. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Happy Christmas one and all! On sound proofing; I've researched this extensively for a 2A Landrover rebuild. Anti vibration pads need to cover about 40% of any large panels and be fitted in the middle. This will stop the panel acting as a drum skin but sound will still pass through. 100% coverage is just a waste of money with no better effect. To stop the sound coming through, a 100% coverage of a open cell foam with a heavy sound deadening layer bonded to the outside is needed. If its not rated with units of mass per squares area the forget it! I've used Kit Car Builders Solutions 12mm foam/lead/foam/reflective foil at 5kg/m^2 but there are others out there too. Expensive but to do it well... I've also used the carpet underlay in minis and, in my opinion, it's a waste of time and money (even if it is mega cheap... It's mega ineffective!) Other thing to do is make sure there are no holes in the bulkhead and all grommets etc are good fit. I fitted a late centre speedo blanking plate behind my carb and plumbed the loom and cable through grommets in it to the centre speedo. Hope this is of some help! As to the goo for the tyres, I'd give that a miss, although I have to say I have considered it as well. The problem is that you need new tyres at some point and then you have the **** stuck to the rims and have to remove all of it to get a nice fit for the new tyres. SO, bite the Bullas, take the tyres off, lean and respray the insides and Bob. As to soundproofing, the drum effects is correct, but if you are still on a budget my friend, a thick layer of underseal on the INSIDE will stop drumming as well. The lagging stuff won't stick properly, so forget that. A thick foam for the bonnet is fine. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: A belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all out there in Mini-List land. For sound deadening I would highly recommend Dynamat. It's not cheap, but it shut up the cabin noise in my 74 Beetle a lot better than the factory fitted cardboard stuff. I don't really know if it will absorb water though. As for the alloy wheels issue, I have the same problem with my Moke on the left rear rim. I've had the tyre removed, cleaned up the mating surface on the rim and had it refitted several times. It's no better, so my tyre guy suggests the alloy may be porous. For now I just pump up that tyre every time I use the Moke. Fortunately I have collected a second set of the same rims, so I will just change it out at some point. Cheers, Brett.
