Message-ID: Yes, I got some mini disk brake wheel bearing pre tensioner plates made up today out of 50mm mild steel rod Could take orders on some more if you wanted one? See diagram in supplemental section of the Haynes Book of Lies - it is used to ensure the bearings on later disk braked minis are correctly compressed when the drive flanges are refitted FB Mini failed MOT on brakes and the disks look shot after sitting around for 10 years :) might get them skimmed as they are cross drilled vented ones -- =========================== http://uk.linkedin.com/in/drjohnbullas From john.bullas at gmail.com Fri Oct 22 13:36:37 2010 From: john.bullas at gmail.com (Dr John C Bullas) Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2010 20:36:37 +0100 Subject: [Mini] best way to torque up or undo a 1275GT driveshaft lock nut Message-ID: any top tips here? thought about accessing the nut thru the opening in the wheel and loosening/tightening it with tires in contact with the ground foot on the brake with caliper still connected? I assume you mean the hub nut. Put it in bottom gear with the opposite wheel on the ground. Or you could use an old steel wheelrim with a bar welded onto it to stop it rotating. -- Richard Porter http://www.minijem.plus.com/ mailto:ricp at minijem.plus.com I don't want a user experience. I just want stuff that works. I have always tightened using a socket through the wheel centre, with the tyre on the ground, wheel chocks front and back all round, the brakes jammed on, using a wooden lever on the brake. I use a break bar on the socket, and a 5ft scaffold type pole on that. I found that when I when the front wheel would turn on the spot, and the mini try to climb over the chocks, the pressure was just right. :) Tiff is currently awaiting new sills and A-panels to get through the MOT, so unlikely to be going anywhere this winter :( Andy in Norwich On 22/10/2010 20:36, Dr John C Bullas wrote: > any top tips here? > > thought about accessing the nut thru the opening in the wheel and > loosening/tightening it with tires in contact with the ground > > foot on the brake with caliper still connected? > > FB From millerls at ado13.com Sat Oct 23 17:37:35 2010 From: millerls at ado13.com (Larry & Sandi Miller) Date: Sat, 23 Oct 2010 16:37:35 -0700 Subject: [Mini] Engine Message-ID: In the Mechanical Service Parts List, Pages Plate A2 and MA 4, drawing item #43 that is listed as part # 6K 831 and identified as "Plate-Locking-Front plate to Bearing Cap".
