Hot draining should clear more muck then cold. My roadster
(leaving what's in the cooler, hoses etc.) starts off clean but
then gradually gets browner, I've seen them classed as a 'dirty'
engine. If you have blow-by it'll probably be worse. My V8 came
out pretty clean but then I used to treat it to an engine flush
every other change putting it in a hot engine and running it for a
few minutes before draining when it came out black. You could try
a flush, but then that can dislodge old muck which circulates and
causes other problems.

Thanks for the reply. It is just that the nice clean oil mixed
with the old oil left in the oil cooler is no longer nice and
clean. Where the transmission oil still looks like it just came
out of the bottle . Tap the oil cooler on the bottom looks like
best bet. Wonder why they are not made that way.
