Other than getting the bolts started, which is a terror, the front subframe swap is easy. <div><br></div><div>You can't swap the subframe (crossmember) in an MGA. It is welded to the chassis in the MGA, unlike the MGB where it is bolted to the unibody. </div><div><br></div><div>You can swap the front hubs. Drum to drum would be easy, disc to disc would be easy, Not as easy front drum to disc & vice versa. Swap the entire rear axles (& hand brake cables) as the two axles are slightly different in overall width (to account for the different back spacing of the wheels). Well, when I had that situation with two MGBs (I wanted to put the wire wheels on the car I was planning to restore, and swap the steel wheels to the car i would dispose of), I swapped the entire suspensions ? the third member (rear axle) with leaf springs, and the front subframe with all suspension attached. You wouldn?t have to do the leafs ? I happened to know which set was newer. Actually, in this case, the wire wheel suspension had been regularly maintained and had many new parts, and the steel wheel setup had been sitting untouched for possibly 30 years, so it was clear that I wanted all the other components along with the wire wheel hubs. If the situation regarding the condition of the parts had been different, I might have tried to do it piecemeal. But in my case the full swap was the easiest and best way.<br>

Other than getting the bolts started, which is a terror, the front subframe swap is easy. You can even roll it on its wheels from one car to the other. You can roll the rear axle, too, so if you have 8 jack stands it is a pretty smooth operation.<br>

Based on the MGB as long as it is the same design of axle it's not <br>
difficult, just needs a shorter handbrake cable.<br>
