When restoring the GT in the period of 1990 – 2000, I took the pump apart and polished the contact points shing bright. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-GB>I think the car made some 15,000 miles after it came onto the road again in 2000.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-GB>15,000 miles for me is not really reliable, certainly not compared with modern cars. Into my 1972 GT, tomorrow, goes its third, as the second failed last week, at ten years and 25,000 miles. I have never been successful with replacing diaphragm and points. Well, successful in that the pumps did not leak, but they would not pump. <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> Installed in my GT is an auxiliary pump, wired to an unused rocker switch on the console.
