BTW I have seen (electronic) tachometers go bad and kill the engine about

Later model MGB have ballasted ignition with a 1.5 ohm coil and a 1.5 ohm
ballast resistor. The third wire goes to the starter solenoid, so
the starter can bypass the ballast resistor and switch full battery

points, and the terminal that goes to the tachometer has a double wire
connection, so 1 to the points, 1 to the tachometer, where does the other
