The idea is if you saturate the skin with lotion, it won’t absorb oil and dirt. It works up to a point — as soon as you get into solvents, they dissolve the lotion and you’re back to square one.<div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I’ve been buying the boxes of 100 nitrile gloves, so I can just burn through as many as needed. I reuse them, if I haven’t managed to puncture them. Sometimes I tear one inside 5 minutes.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">The one thing you can’t do with gloves on is start small fine thread nuts, especially when working blind (like behind the dash). really helps with the exit process. and if your cheap like me you can then

the nitrile gloves at Harbor Freight, for jobs involving nastier solvents. The
latex fails pretty quickly when wetted with chemicals.</div><div dir="ltr" class="">There are a few points I'd like to throw into this thread:</div><div dir="ltr" class="">1. One's skin is the body's largest organ...and its permeable. Things
on your hands get into your body. Transdermal is the name of the process. Gloves
are good.</div><div dir="ltr" class="">2. Many of us do car work in short bursts. That is, we pull spanners
when we find 20 minutes here or there, as opposed to those fun all-day
Saturdays. Gloves, be they latex or nitrile, allow fast cleanup. Yes, one's
hands get wet with sweat but strip the gloves and wash with regular soap and
water, and one's hands and nails are wife-inspection presentable! </div><div dir="ltr" class="">3. When I have 30 minutes free to work on something, I don't want to
spend half of that time cleaning my hands. I'll gladly pay the fifteen cents for
