There is also the idea that it is nearly 
impossible to reach behind the master cylinder 
for wrenching on direct fit flatre nuts.  The 
banjo fitting makes wrench access much 
easier.  Some people prefer to also install banjo 
fittings on both brake ande clutch lines to make life easier.
