Duplicolor Dark Canyon Red is a good match for MGA and for MGB red engines. I do not know if the oil filter canister was painted when on the engine or separately, or maybe it was masked?my TD?s canister was a silvery-green. Without painting the entire engine I doubt you'll find an exact match. Rustoleum not expensive and is easy to find locally but its main downside is that it is very slow drying. If you can keep the item you've painted warm for a few hours that helps. Also, it must be re-coated within one hour or after 48 hours (or more if not warm) otherwise the paint will lift/wrinkle. But in the instruments, I did, and have been very pleased (you thought I was going to say delighted) with them. Instrument lighting was never satisfactory; I had tried a variety of bulbs, and had jumped the rheostat out of the circuit without ever getting enough light to read the gauges when a car with headlamps on was following. Max points out that the LEDs vary in size. When installing the new one in speedometer, bounce the instrument with your hand before putting it in. Be sure that the LED is not touching the rotating cup of the instrument. If the speedo does not read with the new LED in place, wiggle the LED slightly back out of the speedo to give clearance. You need to check what bulbs you have, a PO may have changed things. AFAIK originally they were MES i.e. screw fitting, and those are replaced by E10 5 5050 SMD LED. Google that and pick your supplier. Whilst changing the instrument bulbs is a very worthwhile operation the indicator tell-tales are much more difficult to get at on a CB car (maybe even worse on a padded dash), for me are bright enough anyway, and I was trained to cancel them manually (and no that wasn't before self-cancelling indicators ...). Barney answered your question but I want to ask one. Why? Unless you are routinely careening down mountain roads the MGA drum brakes are more than adequate for? a street driven MGA. Even many vintage raced MGAs do not convert to discs (even when they are allowed to do so). The limiting factor for stopping distance will always be tire traction. Put your money into good tires (most MGA size tires are for economy cars and not sports cars) and I think you'll find the brakes are fine. This of course assumes drum brakes/linings/etc are all in good condition. Which, with brakes being very high on the List of Important Things, they should be.
