[Mgs] MGB rack&pinion needed

SAE 90 type of oil it is. Same as the differential gearbox.

Remember, the racks are not greased — they should filled with oil. Many people make the mistake of assuming a zerk fitting implies the use of grease gun, but that is not the case.

I confess that we never lubricated it, as access to the cover on the R&P is difficult, to say the least!  My mechanic was thinking of drilling a hole & welding a grease fitting on a used replacement rack, but that one also was sticking near one end, so a new rack and tie rod ends are on order.  That should last me the rest of my driving life with the car!

Try disconnecting the tie rod ends and re-assessing. The MG rack &
pinion is quite sturdy. While it is possible the R&P could seize, I
think it more likely one or both kingpins would seize - especially if
the rubber seals have perished and it has not been greased regularly.

Anyone in/near northeastern Pennsylvania have a good used steering rack for a 1970/71 B?  Steering on my B/GT has seized up?apparently no previous owner ever lubricated it....
