Hi once again! I've been lurking for probably 15 years, but haven't posted for several. We have been traveling for many years, especially in the summers. Therefore our 79B has been dormant; not driven at all for two years. It ran fine, with a very intermittent miss every once in a while, when last driven. We will be home for the summer in a few weeks and I'm going to start driving it again. What should I do BEFORE I attempt to start it? BTW, the gas tank is full of 2 year old fuel.

Thanks,

Monte 79B with HIF's and detoxed

30 to 50mph on N, 90mph or so goes up to H.

Causes? Cures?

Most likely lack of air flow. This is common wiht a re-cored
radiator where they used a core with too many fins too close
together, so it restricts air flow at road speed. For that you need
a really large fan, or an electric fan to assist the air
push. Better to get back to an original type radiator with more air
flow capacity.

Other possible causes may be a loose fan belt (slippage reducing fan
speed), or a loose or missing impellor on the weter pump, or a
clogged radiator core restricting water flow. Possibly a faulty
thermostat that does not open all the way.

Runs hot at low speed = water flow.
Runs hot at high speed = air flow.

That?s the general rule I?ve heard.
