[Mgs] MGA Tach cable

Is there a trick, technique, or tool that is needed to remove the tach 
cable from the block.  I tried to unscrew it by hand from the top and it 
won't budge.  I tried vise-grips (vertical) from above, and even long 
node bent pliers.  It won't budge.   There is very little room to 
maneuver to attack it horizontally.
