[Mgs] tappet question Noisy

Since we are on this thread, I have heard a good number of engines that are quiet as a mouse and no valve train noise.  The engine now in my GT the are just down right noisy. Tried tighter, tried looser , with no effect .Using VR-1 oil with a NAPA filter , engine has a bout 35000 miles on it.   good oil pres..   Any ideas???
