Not necessarily. Regular brake fluid hydroscopic and absorbs water. DOT5 does not. If you mix the fluids you can wind up with a pocket of water laden DOT4 somewhere in the system. This can lead to corrosion and cause a point of failure in the system. Sent from my iPhone
