When I removed the pistons from a 1973 18v the compression ring gaps were on
the cam side of the pistons. Reading the Haynes manual it says the compression
rings should be set at 90 degree gap opposite the thrust side of the piston,
that would set them opposide side of the cam since the engine turns clockwise.
Am I correct?

                                                    Thank for any help

                    Steve
