Oh boy, scary stuff.... Did a link actually break or just separate? I have used straps in the past and have
found that an effective way to support the engine and trans.

Yesterday, while re-installing my engine, the chain broke.  Fortunately, it
was in a position where no serious harm was done to the engine, the car, or
me.

Don't mess around with those things, or you might get to experience the same
slo-mo ('nooooooo!') experience as I.
